Description: The Retirement Plans Experience Committee RPEC of the Society of Actuaries SOA is a standing committee that monitors pension plan mortality experience. Most recently, the committee developed the RP-2000 mortality table. This table was the first published North American mortality table based solely upon private sector pension plan mortality experience. Previous tables developed by the RPEC such as GAR-94 and UP-94 were based primarily on a combination of group annuity, and U.S. federal employees and retirees mortality experience. Usually, these results are demonstrated using data from countries where economic conditions are improving over time along with health outcomes. This paper studies the links between health risks and the current economic conditions in Mexico where general mortality conditions improved during the period 1980-2000 but income fell.

Description: This paper by the SOA Committee on HIV research builds on past work to show three projections of the future of the AIDS epidemic. These scenarios can provide information to actuaries in considering the financial impact of AIDS for life and health insurance. Description: The Individual Annuity Experience Committee of the Society of Actuaries has completed an experience study of individual annuities covering the calendar years 2000 - 2004. The intest of this study was to provide recent annuitant mortality experience which can be compared to the Annuity 2000 Mortality Table, and provide a basis for a possible revision to that table.
